Evolution has been the biggest truth of all time. Our civilisations have evolved over centuries to become a technology-driven world today. However, there are many civilisations and tribes that have stuck to their religion, culture, rituals and values. Most often when we hear the word “Tiki” we think of carved wooden statues with piercing eyes and a menacing scowl. Some statues wear expressions of great joy or spiritual balance, while others may look more troubled or sad.
In the 1930s, Tiki Culture was in vogue when various cafes and restaurants were designed around the tiki theme, both art and the cinematic world were inspired by the exotic Polynesian culture.
Our T-shirt Maori depicts the same culture and vividly portrays the sentiments of the Maori Mythology to which The Tiki Gods belong. Similar to the way the Christian religion sees Adam as the first created human, Maori mythology refers to Tiki as the first man. One popular legend states that Tiki lived a lonely life and craved companionship. One day, seeing his reflection in a pool, he was overjoyed thinking he had found a companion, and dove into the pool to embrace his new-found friend. The image shattered and Tiki, In his anguish, covered the pool with dirt, and the earth gave birth to a female companion.

Tiki God of Maori Mythology
Mythology plays a great role in shaping our ideology and beliefs. The Maori Mythology belongs to the Polynesian Lands with all its legends and myths inherited from the Lands of Polynesia. Like in any other mythology, in Maori also there are different Tiki Gods for different forces.
Tiki was the first man who was created by Tane according to mythology. Then he found his soulmate and hence, the affair of civilisation started. Different Tiki Gods are the progenitors of birds, humanity, the earth, the sun, etc.
